Reset Review

I decided to take a HUGE step toward better health! Starting on September 23, 2012 I decided to embark on a new journey with the Beachbody Ultimate Reset!! A 21-day cleansing program to RESET your body to optimal health. And the BEST part… a NO starvation, gentle cleanse that won’t have you sitting at home next to your bathroom because you don’t want to go #2 (or worse) in a public restroom!

I have decided to take this step for a couple reasons. First, I have been feeling a bit sluggish for a month or so. I don’t know if I have over trained or I’m not fueling myself properly (or both), but I want the reset to repair my body and restore my energy levels. Also, I have hit a plateau and I am hoping this will jumpstart my fat loss again so I can finally lose the last few pounds I can’t seem to get rid of. Lastly, I feel like I am in a nutritional rut. I don’t desire to cook… it’s not my passion, so I eat a lot of the same things. Since I have to cook all my meals, hopefully I can make it a habit to try new things. I think I make cooking harder than it really is.

This is not going to be an easy 21-days, but I believe it will benefit me in the end… in more ways than one!

 

Phase 1: RECLAIM

DAY 1:

The food is better than I was expecting. I didn’t get hungry at all, so I feel like I got plenty of food. I found the meals easy to prepare today and that says a lot because I am NOT a good cook. I started getting a headache at about 2:00 P.M. and it gradually increased. By bedtime it was a throbbing headache… a little unpleasant!

Day 2 :

Dinner was AWESOME today… Brown rice and black beans, salsa, guacamole, corn tortilla, and steamed kale. DELICIOUS! I will be keeping this recipe for future use. Honestly, the one thing I could do without is the Alkalinize supplement. It is an awesome green powder that you mix with water and savor (yeah, that’s it). It smells gross and doesn’t taste great either. It’s purpose is worth it though. It helps bring your body back to a healthy PH for improved immunity. COME ON… you KNOW you want some!!!

DAY 3:
I felt like I was in the kitchen all day today. I really should have taken a day to prep food for the week. Luckily my kids were nice to LET me cook and clean the kitchen for a few hours. I did find that I DO NOT like lentils. 🙁 I just couldn’t get lunch down today. I started getting a headache at about 5:00 P.M. probably because I didn’t get all the food I was supposed to. It did go away about 30 minutes after dinner.  I was excited for Nori Rolls and I thought my mad burrito rolling skills would come in handy… turns out those skills do not roll over to seaweed.  Mine looked terrible and I ended up eating it like a hard taco, but it was delicious!

DAY 4:
I was supposed to have Lentils for lunch again today, but I just couldn’t do it. I substituted it for a micro-salad. It’s great to have your meals planned daily, but it’s nice to be able to swap a meal if you don’t like something.  I got a little tired in the afternoon, but not tired enough to take a nap.

 

DAY 5:

I had a very slight headache today and felt a little crabby, but nothing too bad.  Again the food was good and I really enjoyed the Quinoa salad for lunch.  The only time I have been hungry is about an hour before dinner, but I go about 5-6 hours between lunch and dinner with no food (I don’t do the snack option) so that is a long time for me.  Ready for day 6!

DAY 6:

Well hello soft skin!!!  I have a dry skin problem having reddish dry patches on my back side and legs.  I have had to use lotion every day and if you know me, I HATE lotion.  If I skipped a day it was back to being bad.  I have never really got a handle on it.  I have not been using lotion since I started this reset and my dry skin is almost GONE!!!  I am super excited about it!  I’m feeling great today!

DAY 7:

Last day of Phase 1 went well.  Like I said before, most the food was great and I feel pretty good. I have never really felt overly hungry. I didn’t do this really for the weight loss, but this is an added bonus… even if some of it may have been water weight.  Ready for Phase 2!

 PHASE 1 RESULTS:  Lost 9 Pounds,  2.5″ Gone, and down 2.1% Body Fat!! 

Phase 2: RELEASE

DAY 8:

I started phase 2 Release today and to be honest, the Detox supplement is NOT good and you take it 3 times a day.  I had a hard time getting it down.  On the upside, I feel great and have more energy.

DAY 9:

I woke up feeling really great today… more relaxed and easy going (if that makes sense).   I did get a little light headed today (more than normal).  It may be because I didn’t finish all my dinner last night.  Nothing too bad.

DAY 10:

It’s been a long time since I have gotten a full nights sleep without waking up several times.  Last night was an amazing sleep and I felt very refreshed when I got out of bed.

**Quite Frankly, these day by day updates are BORING… even to me!!  I will update when something interesting happens! 🙂

Day 14:

Last day of Phase 2 and it is going really well!  I feel fantastic and am very happy that I do not need to take the detox any longer.  Again, I haven’t felt overly hungry and do get full at every meal.

 PHASE 2 RESULTS:  Lost 2.8 Pounds,  2″ Gone, and down 0.3% Body Fat!!

Phase 3: RESTORE

Day 16:

Phase 3 is probably my favorite week for meal prep.  Since you are eating mostly just fruits and veggies, meals are pretty simple and don’t take very long.  I am getting a little tired of salads though. 🙂

Day 19:

I have been getting super light-headed for the last 2 days every time I get up.  I usually do a couple times a day, but this is EVERY time.  I think I may need to eat larger portions.  Craving my Shakeology and a Turkey sandwich!

Day 21:

I have bee REALLY hungry yesterday and today!  I don’t know if it a mental thing because I am so close to the end or if it is real hunger.  Not bad when these are the only days I have been SO hungry I feel like I could eat everything in the house!

PHASE 3 Results:  Lost 6 Pounds,  3.5″ Gone, and down 1.6% Body Fat!!

 END RESULTS: Lost 17.8 Pounds, 8″ Gone, and down 4% Body Fat!!

WOW, that was an AMAZING experience and YES, I WOULD do it again!  The whole process was a lot easier that I thought it would be.  I didn’t really crave anything until the last week and that was my Shakeology and a Turkey sandwich (of all things).  I honestly haven’t slept this well in a LONG time.  I fall asleep faster and when I wake up in the morning I feel rested and refreshed!  I didn’t really exercise except for some short walks, a little stretching, and light yoga.  I am more flexible, have a jump on losing the rest of my belly fat, and have a better idea of good meals. There are some GREAT recipes in the Reset nutrition guide that I am going to keep using and have learned that veggies do NOT have to be boring (and are delicious).  My food may not be presented beautifully, but I’m not scared to try to cook something new.  I highly recommend the Reset and am SO happy that I went through with it!
